The mistake comes when i normally use the left alt key plus letter I in
MS
word to insert something into a document, the command I use more often
than
the alt key to the right of the space bar which is actually alt plus
control. I use the latter key for my custom shortcuts but, in MS Word,
when
used with the letter I, it toggles between insert and overtype modes. I
normally write 5-8 reports of 6000 to 12000 words in length per week so

a lot of my life in MS Word, as a result, when pushing myself for a
deadline, I sometimes make a mistake such as this.
Now that all doesn't help the problem one little bit, but I can assure
you
that the alt plus control plus I when hit using the right alt key almost
always results in the control key being activated with subsequent
multi-key
actions thereafter on my HP machine, a problem that didn't occur on a
custom-built computer I was previously using! Sorry I didn't add
anything

The only similarity is the use of an HP machine.
I am confused, how can you hit a control alt I combination by accident?
If
you just hit alt I and Jaws says control alt I then we have the same
problem.
For example, alt f4 combination will say control alt f4.
Alt s will put a control key with it as well.
When in Word, hitting the letter "P" has put me into print mode. Of
course
control p is the short cut key for doing just that.
I never had this problem until I started using a HP machine about 2
years
ago. This has been going on since Vista.

I have been running an HP desktop since early summer and get a problem
every so often where suddenly the control key is active whatever key
combination I use, although it doesn't seem to affect the actual
alphabetical keys. I've noticed that, if I hit control a couple of times
before hitting a key combination when in the problematic situation. it
allows the next key combination normally, almost like a pass-through key.
Anyway, I have found out what does it on my machine. It only seems to
happen when I'm in word and hit alt+control+the letter i when I meant to
hit
alt+i. The only way to get out of it seems to be to reboot the computer.
I'm running JFW 7 on an XP machine with MS Word 2003.
Any similarities by any chance?

Running Windows7, the latest Jaws 11 my control key at various times
gets stuck. Freedom Scientific was wondering if HP has something to do
with
it.
Windoweyes, and NVDA do not have this problem on my machine.
When I installed Jaws on my wife's HP machine, she runs Window eyes,
the
problem began. She never had this problem for over a month until then.
As far as Freedom Scientific is concerned, it is only me who is having
this problem.
If anyone else is, I would greatly like to know!
