While in a list of  messages, its actually much better to use home and
end instead. Home and end does exactly the same as control+home and
control+end. Its  much  simpler to press home or end on its own.

I agree with Yardbird, control home or control end gives you that
result. 
Control home takes you to the first message in your in box while control
end 
takes you to the last.  Judith
