John,
I second that. Excel is powerful. And it's association with other Office
applications like MS-Word means that it can provide data to be used in
MS-Word, for such invoices, etc. And as you edit the data in Excel, the Word
document can automatically update, as well.

I have used Excel to do what you are wanting to do. I was a trainer for the
state blind agency and developed invoices using Excel so that I could submit
invoices to the state agency.
Excel is very powerful and works well with Jaws. You can make up custom
made forms with various fields and the like to accommodate various
customers.
