jaws crashes with sapi5

My pc was in the shop after a hd problem. I re-installed jfw10, and it
seemed that it worked fine with eloquence. I switched the synthesizer to
sapi5, and jaws immediately crashed, and I haven't been able to resurrect
it.
Has anyone else experienced a problem wit sapi5 like this?
How did you solve it?
