I am getting the impression that jaws eight is becoming nothing but a huge headach.

This has to be one of the strangest quirks in Jaws 8. In fact, I experienced this very same problem this afternoon. This is the second time and on each occasion the problem lasted 3 to 4 minutes then voila, the problem simply vanished. In my case both left and right alt keys were affected.
