I will share my experience with attempting to update JAWS 13 to the latest
build 1005. Perhaps this might help you. When I received the automatic
notification that an update to JAWS 13 was available I proceeded with the
update. Unfortunately the update failed. I didn't think that much about it
since jaws was currently working fine for me. When I logged into my various
wepsites later that day to begin work I suddenly found that JAWS could no
longer interact with them. JAWS could not see the information that was
displayed in various fields and I could not activate or edit the edit
fields. This was not true on all websites or all pages, just a few. In my
case, I could not do any work without these pages. As a short term fix, I
loaded JAWS 12 and everything worked fine.
I called FS tech support and they said to reinstall the new build 1005,
which I did and this did not fix the situation. I called FS again and they
said to uninstall JAWS 13 and the shared components,because the problem was
with the shared components. I did this, and then reinstalled build 1005.
Unfortunately the problem remained the same. So, I uninstalled JAWS 13 again
along with the shared components and reinstalled build 924. Everything now
works normally again. The bottom line is that either my download of build
1005 was corrupted or there is some kind of bug in build 1005 that will not
work for me. So, I will skip using build 1005 and try the next one when it
is released. JAWS 13.0.924 is the most stable and smoothly functioning build
I have had in several years and I hopefully can stick with it for awhile.
Maybe you need to go back to build 924.
