My mistake, I thought the idea was not to hear it.

Bob,
Thanks for your suggestion, but muting JAWS from echoing the press of tab or enter is a separate issue from the Key Interrupt setting. In other words, with the JCF Key_Interrupt setting at 0, and even with TAB or ENTER not being echoed by JAWS, hitting TAB or ENTER will always interrupt JAWS speech. So I continue to search for a way to have tab and enter not interrupt JAWS speech.
David

Go to the configuration manager, insert and F2
Up arrow to keyboard manager
Go to key labels tab
There is a list of keys and you can check or uncheck them depending on if you want one muted or not. Once you are in the list, hit T and you hear tab eventually. Hit space and it will mute announcing the word tab. Likewise hit the letter R and it will bring you to return/enter. Hit space to mute that choice then hit enter and that will save your new choices. Hit control S to save the new choices in the configuration manager and the alt F4 and it's done. You can now test your changes hitting the tab and enter keys and shouldn't hear anything repeated.

Subject: [jawsscripts] Typing Interrupt

Hi,

Is there anyway to have the key presses of ENTER and TAB, not interrupt JAWS speech? They always do interrupt JAWS Speech, even when The JCF option of Typing Interrupt is turned off. I have a set of scripts that dictates text that the user should type. With the JCF option of Typing Interrupt turned off, the dictation instructions are not interuppted by alpha numeric key presses. However, if the user follows an instruction to press ENTER or TAB, then JAWS speech is immediately interuppted. Obviously, ENTER and TAB (and also the navigation keys) don't respect the Typing Interrupt setting of 0.

Thus my question: Is there anyway to have ENTER and TAB not interrupt JAWS speech?
Thanks in Advance.
