It worked for me at the time. But this was a couple years ago. As I
mentioned the auto-complete didn't work and I value a feature like that so I
moved on.
For basic editing without auto-complete but some code support I now use
PSPad.
For complex stuff like Python where I can use the help of auto-complete,
etc., I use Eclipse.
The debate of the best text editors is never ending, and it only adds more
confusion for us as so many of the supposed best are not that accessible. It
is frustrating what seems the most basic of applications, text editing, can
be such an inaccessibility.

Have you done that? I tried it some time ago, but it didn't work.
So for this single reason I consider Notepad++ an inaccessible editor for
JAWS, as all other editors that use Scintilla editor widget.
It is accessible for NVDA though.

fix the highlighting by setting custom highlight colors.
Select some text, move the JAWS cursor to it, and then choose Custom
Highlight Assign from the JAWSKey+F2 menu.
The basics were ok. But the auto-complete feature in Notepad++ does not
work
well with screen readers.

I'd like to start using Notepad++, but I seem to be having a problem with
JAWS speaking what I have highlighted. I'm sorry for asking on this list,
but when I ran a Google search to try to fix my problem, I came across
many
pages associated with this JAWS scripting list and Notepad++, so I figured
many of you have been there done that and might be able to help. :)
Specifically, when I use the regular notepad, if I select a few words or
entire line of text by pressing Shift+End etc., jaws speaks what I've
highlighted. JAWS does not do this in Notepad++--it just says "selected."
Not knowing what has been selected in Notepad++ is troubling since I can't
efficiently edit JAWS scrips or other text files.
If anyone has any solutions I'd really appreciate any tips or tricks.
By the way, besides this highlighting problem, Notepad++ works really,
really well and fast on Windows Creators with JAWS 18 latest.
