Thank you for this list of pronunciation adjustments, I think that they
are
very helpful.
What I do when I need to hear more or less, symbols, or comas, or question
marks, or things like that is create a shortcut to switch the
pronunciation
level of jaws. For example if I want to change the pronunciation of jaws
to
none, I press this keystroke, jaws switch the level to none, or some, and
so
on. Like this I fix m my likes or need quickly with a keystroke.
Here is how I create the shortcut.
1. Open the keyboard manager
Open the default.jkm file
Look for the SetPunctuationLevel
Add a keystroke to this function
Make sure that you aren't creating this shortcut only for laptops, so
uncheck this option
Save it in the default.jkm
Like this, every time that you press this shortcut, you will switch the
pronunciation level.

that
I like
Good morning.
Oh, the beauties of switching to newer software! some benefits, but also
difficulties that I hadn't expected.
In Jaws 9, I set the dictionary manager to give pauses when Jaws
encounters
dashes. m dashes, n dashes, and long or short dashes set off by spaces.
That
way, I can hear pauses when those are encountered.
actual words

-
replacement word
),
),
along with other dashes such as
--
-
--
but in Jaws 17, I find that my neat little custom rules don't apply
anymore.
Jaws keeps running through the sentences without any pauses whatsoever.
I have my punctuation set to None; would that have a bearing?
Maybe you can help solve this riddle.
For the record, here are some of my favorite pronunciation fixes. Maybe
they'll help you with some nagging pronounced errors that you keep
hearing.
I've found that for newer versions of Jaws, if you're going to make
dictionary entries with mainly capital letters, you need to check the Case
Sensitive box.
