Windows XP Pro is not required for networking PCs together per se. If you are intending upon a relatively simple home based network of PCs XP Home will absolutely just fine. In organisations and educational institutions they require more security than XP Home provides in it's networking and therefore very often to connect to such a network XP Professoinal is a mandatory requirement. To recap then, XP Home is able to network just fine and therefore you should have no need to upgrade your Windows or Jaws for that matter. The same is true of VISTA, you will be able to network multiple PCs with VISTA Home Premium when people begin to dive in there. Regards.
