Susun,
You said that you have Avast as your anti virus, I seem to
recall some people complaining about this a couple of months
ago. I've recently changed from AVG to Microsoft Security
Essentials and I found my system speeded up quite
significantly.
Just a thought, hope you get sorted soon.

hi tom,
believe it or not the problem seemed to just get worse over
the last 2
months, i don't think it just suddenly happened.
don't know if this is at all possible but that's the way it
seemed to go.
i will try and find out what system i have and will get back
to you.
