Hi Frank, when you install MP navigator and open the main menu screen go to the
bottom with the jaws cursor and you'll find general, and to the right
preferences. If you route cursor to jaws the preferences window will open,
enabling you to set the functions for the buttons. The two I imagine will be
most important for you will be mail and OCR. To set each just select from the
combo box.
Another little tip. Don't leave the scanner plugged in. Just plug it in when
you want to use it. I used to have mine plugged in all the time, but after a
year or so for reasons I couldn't even guess at I started getting messages from
the scanner telling me it was locked when it wasn't.
At first I thought it was broken, but then I found that, as long as I didn't
leave it plugged in it was fine. It's a lovely little scanner. I wouldn't be
without it.
If you need any help getting started give me a shout.
                    John.

Hi, you obviously haven't followed the thread. As I've already explained the
scanner comes with a programme called MP navigator, which, amongst its
functions, has a perfectly acceptable OCR.
                      John.

you will need ocr software as the scanner just
takes a picture of the printed page that jaws cannot rad.

your scanner may well come with a "lite" version
of finereader or omnipage or some other ocr.

MS office up to version 2k3 came with ocr that was quite decent.

off the shelf ocr will do at a fraction of the
price of k1k or Open book and something like the
not quite current version of finereader or
omnipage can often be bought quite cheaply.
