Good afternoon John,

Many thanks for your reply, too. I appreciate your help. But, as already
written to graham, as the difference in time will be minimal, I think I'll
leave well alone.

I do regularly use CCleaner, which removes a whole lot of rubbish, so I
think I'll leave it there.

Thanks again.

With best wishes,

Keith

Hi Keith, you can remove unnecessary fonts, which should speed up windows
boot, but be careful not to remove those fonts that windows needs. According

to an article I found when looking for information on unecessary fonts in xp

these are given as Verdana, Arial, Trebuchet, Tahoma, Times New Roman and MS

Sans Serif. You'd be well advised before removing any to back up your fonts
folder.
                    John.

Good morning all,

Using Jaws 9 with Windows XP Home.

I've been reading an article in PC Answers magazine for September.

The article is concerned with cleaning the computer, and speeding boot-up
time.

One of the recommendations is as follows:

Windows has dozens of fonts that you probably never use. Slimming these down
speeds up disk access, resulting in a faster boot.

These fonts are evidently in:
c:\Windows\Fonts

Before I remove any of these, can anyone please tell me, are particular
fonts more important to Jaws than others? Or, is it safe to remove nearly
all of them?

I see there are 95 fonts in the list.

From a visual point of view, I only use speech and braille, and my wife only
needs the screen when I get stuck, and she needs to help me out.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

With many thanks.

Best wishes,

Keith
