Yes Amie that is the law, in England fit for purpose can be up to 6 years
in Scotland 5. Good place to start is the Trading Standards Office. A;also
the Which Consumer Association will give you information. I am not saying
it is easy as all the staff in the stores are trained in selling
warranties and they get paid commission
The thing to remember is that no Warranty can take away your rights since
the SGA cannot be overridden by any warranty.,, if long for the day when
stores or Management insists all staff understand this. Best wishes
