HI Dorothy, Is that really true? So, whenever I buy appliances from Comet, and they send me off to bother the manufacturer for adaptations, that's legally out of order? Brilliant, if true.

Apologies for being off-topic. Won't make a habit of it, but this one drives me crazy; they seem to take pleasure in behaving like equal access is the most unreasonable request they've ever heard, and are always disdainful at the idea that it might be their responsibility. Thanks for tollerating the question, and for the info.
Cheers
Amie

Dear Shirley Re your new Toshiba laptop Do we assume you have to buy
Jaws Professional to run this PC? Next how easy is it to deal with the
Sound max , my little Toshiba now a couple of years old has performed well but it did have a problem in that when turned off the sound would vanish
and not having any external volume knob meant trying to get into the
SoundMax with no sound to help . They were very good mind you and sent me
a patch , seems they were aware of it, the shop I got it from was not
interested in spite of the fact that under the Sale of Goods Act they
should have helped me. Remember it is the person or firm into whose hand
you put your money into that is obliged to deal with it . None of this
you should have bought an extended Warranty rubbish. sorry but have a
friend being given the run around over a computer she bought It was not
Dell or Toshiba Best wishes

Ps under the SGA in English law a product should be fit for its purpose

5 in Scotland for I think 6 years Dorothy
