there is a portable version of jaws available from FS's website. You still need administrative rights to be able to install the video intercept machine on your clients' machines and you might want to check into getting a dongle for authorization for your work so you do not need to run in demo mode all the time.

If you only perform basic maintenance on thecomputers, you might want to also have a look at nvda from

http://www.nvda-project.org/

nvda runs from a thumb drive and does not require any video intercept to be installed and therefore no administrative rights on the computer you are working on. It is a free open source screen reader and therefore does not require any authorization scheme. It is very functional for basic computer tasks.

Good luck!

Hi all,

Lets say I became integrated into this college's computing services
helpdesk support team and got delegated to go to end users PC's to fix
small uncomplicated problems. There must be upwards of 300 machines
here, and of course a rather large network server.

I've had a read through the network jaws and the remote access pages but
I don't see how this would really solve my query, as jfw still has to be
installed on the client pc local hard disk.

Am I restricted to simply taking my CD with me and working under 40
minute demo mode? Can I not ask the end user to log off so I can log
onto the system via my own administrator account with my jfw all
configged ready to go??

Could jfw be run from a pen drive?

Sorry if I'm being thick, ...after all, it's Friday!
