Hi Marie and all, ok sorry folks I should've been clearer and spared you the
guessing! Basically, I'd like Jaws to be quiet when I'm listening to a file or
watching a film using Media Player Classic. No matter what announcements I turn
off in the config manager, Jaws keeps saying "file menu bar" when I
forward/rewind. So nothing really dramatic! Any thoughts?

no, you didn't, that's what would happen.
Please describe precisely what you want to do and in which application, two
or 3 heads thinking and looking are sometimes better than one.
Hope you can achieve what you want to do.
Would muting your speakers for a while do? Probably not, you would have
thought of that one, no doubt!

Thanks Marie, but if I change the synthesizer configuration from there Jaws
will be silenced on all applications, or did I miss understand you?

Could someone tell me please where in the config manager I can choose
to run Jaws with no speech? i.e. make (no speech) my default synthesiser. I'm
using both Jaws 7.0 and 9.0.
