HMM, not really.
I suppose if you were willing to do a little waiting you could find a program
that started an application after a delay and run that as a service - in effect
delaying Jaws startup: whether or not that would work is anyones guess.

    Hi tom,
I've been away for a while so hope I can be of use.
Do you get General windows sound? if not, the sound card drivers could be
taking a while to kick in.
if so, I'm a bit flummoxed - jaws and narrator use totally different
software for text output (unless jaws is using mstts by default).

If you got a hardware syntha round, see if that talks as a default.
And does the problem fix itself if you try to load a different synth
without restart jaws?
    To do without speech:
Insert j for the jaws window,
    Alt then l for language,
    C for change synthesizer,
E for eloquence (if it's the only one beginning with e).

    HTH,

    Sean.

Have just had a crash and upgraded from windows xp home to xp pro.

On startup, jaws is running, but, no sound. When I unload and reload, I
get sound.

Though I have jaws set to auto start, I looked in the registry and seems
like no eloquence is default, though i may be misreading this.

I can not get sound from narrator at startup either.

      Tom
