Hi Val,

I more than suspect that your home installation will go
pretty much like clockwork.

From what you describe, your employer has a particularly
aggressive firewall and mail filtering system, especially if
it blocks messages with 20 digit access codes.

George.

        Hi Listers,

Sorry to be behind the times (and expecting you to
back track on this subject) but I have only just got our IT
boys at work to install the latest version of JAWS and what
a nightmare it was. The programe disk went in fine, no
trouble, and also the authorisation disk, but then it asked
for either internet, telephone, etc. registration. They
tried to register via the net but a strange message came
back so it was down to the phone. S & S promised to email
the code but, guess what, it was stopped by our Firewall and
was deleted. Then the technician couldn't come back until
today and I spent two and a half days with the 40 minute
version. At last S & S got the code through and all is now
well.

Trouble is, I am petrified now of trying to install
on my home P.C. in case I run up against the same problems
with authorising the version. Any tips please.

        Regards

        Val Brown

                Hi Eifion,

It might be worth trying the virtualise
window facility of Jaws.

                JawsKey+control+W.

This will allow you to read the whole window
which may not be what you want but usually allows you to get
to the part you need.

Press escape to close the virtualised
window.

                HTH,

                Phil Medway.

Explorer and pop up windows

Try using insert and the B key to
read the dialog. If this does not work use the Jaws cursor,
followed by root jaws to PC. Then use the arrow keys to
move up and down the dialog.

Use the - key at the top right of
the num pad to turn on Jaws cursor. The use insert - to
root jaws to pc. To go back to the pc cursor use the + key
on the num pad.

                        Hope this helps,
                        Nigel

and pop up windows

                        Hello

The company I work for has a web
application that needs to work with JAWS 6. I've fixed most
of the problems, but one of the things I can't get JAWS to
do is read out the contents of Internet Explorer's modal
dialog boxes (i.e. those opened using
window.showModalDialog). JAWS will read the title of the pop
up dialog and mention that it's a dialog window but will
then stop and not read the contents of the modal window. Is
there any known way to persuade JAWS to read the contents of
the dialog box?

                        Eifion
