Hi George, I tried this. When I reopen the file and move to that cell JAWS still says blank. I inserted the picture again to be sure and saved it this time as a web page. On opening the web page JAWS says bit map a few times, then Signature and that's it. I had Signature written in cell a1 and inserted a picture of my signature in b1 and gave it the alt text PictureOfMySignature. So JAWS isn't picking up the alt text if it is there. Any other ideas?
