Hi Phil,

Thanks for coming back.

Yes, I obviously pressed Alt Enter at the wrong place.

I've now found the entry, and it is checked.

However, there's a difference in the way the entry appears in the SysTray.

When I switch on the computer, the entry reads:

NETGEAR WG111v2 is connected to T I- A R7WRD

However, when my wife clicks on the icon in the Task Bar, the SysTray item
changes to:

Wireless Connection Network 2, T I-A R 7WRd, Speed 54.0 MB P S, Signal
Strength excellent, Status, connected.

This entry lasts as long as the computer is on, but when switched off and on
again, it reverts to the earlier entry.

So, my question is: is there any way I can have the second entry appear by
default in the Systray, without my wife clicking on it?

There's probably no way this can happen, but you may know different.

Sorry if my earlier request wasn't really clear.

Thanks again.

With best wishes,

Keith

Hi again Keith,

What you have there is the properties for the task bar and start menu.

Make sure that you select network connections on the control panel, press
enter on it.

Select wireless network connection from the list and open the properties.
You can do this most directly by pressing alt+enter when you have the
wireless network connection selected.
Now, tab 4 times and you should land on the show icon in the notification
area when connected item. Jaws should tell you if it is checked or not.
Ensure that it is checked. You can change this type of control by pressing
the space bar.

Tab to the ok button and press enter,.

You will need to close the control panel window which you can do by pressing
alt+f4.

Hi Keith,

Click on network connections in the control panel;

Select wireless connection and press alt+enter to bring up the properties;
Tab down until you hear show icon in the notification area when connected
and ensure that it is checked;
Now, tab to ok and press enter.

This should do the trick.

Subject: [jaws-uk] Icon on the Taskbar

Dear All,

Jaws 7.1, XP Home.

I have a network wireless adaptor on my PC.

An icon evidently appears on the Taskbar.

I wish to show this icon in the Jaws System Tray.

My wife can do this by clicking on the icon, but I can't find it on the
Taskbar with the Jaws cursor.

I would like it to permanently appear in the System Tray, as it reports the
status of the adaptor.

Is there a way for me to do this, please.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks.

Best wishes,

Keith
