I also have similar and dissimilar problems with the spell checker in outlook express. It does not always read the word that is misspells. To get it to read this I think you may be able to use a combination of shift tab and read line.

Hope this helps,
Nigel
It's not what Operating system you use, it's how productive you are with it.

Subject: [jaws-uk] Flakey spell checker

Hi there,

I think this was discussed a few weeks ago but I've noticed a similar problem now on both my work and home computers and on several clients machines as well.

Ever since I upgraded to Jaws 6, and then to 6.10 and 6.20, the spell checker in both Word and in Outlook Express is very temperamental about whether or not it is going to speak the word that is badly spelled.

I think that Tristram had suggested the usual tinkers with colour depth and screen resolutions. I've tried various combinations with no clear or significantly better results.

My work laptop is a Dell Latitude with Windows XP Professional, Word 2000 and Jaws 6.20.
My home laptop is a Toshiba Satellite with Windows XP Home, Word 2003 and Jaws 6.20.

All the machines appear to have gone wonky since around Jaws 6 was installed.

My question is whether the other person who had this problem ever come up with a combination that worked reliably for them? Any suggestions from anyone else also welcome.

Cheers,

Jamie
