Hello all,

Forgive the long explanation but this is to do with drag and drop and I want
to explain exactly what I'm trying to do.

I had major problems with my e-mail which resulted in me using a tool called
DBXtract to recover it from probably corrupt .dbx files. Now I have lots of
.eml files I need to get back into Outlook Express. The instructions the
author of DBXtract gives for doing this are as follows:

1. Create a new folder in OE and then open OE to that folder so that the
blank header list is visible.
2. Open Windows Explorer to the directory containing the eml and nws files
and select the files you want to reincorporate into OE.
3. Right click on the selected files in Windows Explorer and hold the mouse
button down and drag the files over top of the header list in the open OE
folder
and release the mouse button.
4. OE will then reincorporate the files into that folder as messages.

I tried to do this using JAWS. The first two times I did it successfully
by:
1. Opening OE and opening the empty folder I wanted to import the messages
into.
2. Opening My Computer to the folder containing .eml files.
3. Cursoring down a few times.
4. Pressing Control a to select all.
5. Routing JAWS to PC.
6. Pressing ins star to lock right mouse button.
7. Pressing Control ins slash to do drag and drop.
8. Pressing alt tab to get into OE.
9. Cursoring up (JAWS cursor is still active, and was at this point
focusing on the contacts in OE) until I heard from header bar subject header
bar etc.
10. Pressing ins star to unlock right mouse button.
11. Pressing control ins slash to drop.
JAWS said the item to be dropped was not found, the drag and drop operation
was cancelled. But the e-mails did appear in OE.

Now I haven't been able to get success again with the other folders of
e-mails. Sometimes nothing seems to happen differently in terms of what I
hear from JAWS (when repeating the exact steps I took before). Other times
My Computer behaves as if I had single right clicked because a context menu
appears, whereas that shouldn't happen if the mouse button is locked.

I thought possibly a problem could be that I'm trying to drag too many items
at once and OE simply can't cope. So I just selected 10 and tried but it
won't work.

Then I thought maybe there's something corrupt/wrong with these particular
files so I tried to repeat dragging and dropping the files I'd already got
(after having moved them to a different folder in OE and having a empty
folder to drag into again). Still no success.

I have tried different variations on my keystrokes such as locking the left
mouse button instead of the right; not locking either but just doing control
ins slash; not cursoring down before I do control a to select all files -
nothing seems to have an effect so far.

Was I just lucky the first time? Has anyone else had to do this and how did
you get it to work? Any ideas how I can get it to work?

From speaking to the author of this program and looking on the internet I
think the only way to get .eml files incorporated into OE is by dragging and
dropping...but if anyone knowas any different I'd be overjoyed to hear it!

Thanks,
Catherine
