Hi, On our system it was in the programs menu under sound manager - it was set at default for 5.1 audio which we didn't want. The 2 speaker option cleared the other jacks for use with microphone etc - we had three jacks in total on the mobo. I'm just trying to think where in the software I'd check the settings you mentioned. I had this on one of my machines with a Realtek sound chip. Thanks. Recently I've not been able to obtain any input from my mic. However my screen-reader is heard - together with me typing apparently. I can varify the former from doing tests in Sound Recorder. I'm sure I've seen a solution to this kind of scenario before, but can't for the life of me remember what it was! My Mic volume is set to 90 %, and the 20 DB boost, and mute checkboxes are checked and unchecked respectively. Any ideas?
