Hi,

On our system it was in the programs menu under sound manager - it was set at
default for 5.1 audio which we didn't want. The 2 speaker option cleared the
other jacks for use with microphone etc - we had three jacks in total on the
mobo.

Andrew.

Hi Andrew,

The card is actually a Vinyl AC '97 (audio Wave). I'm just trying to think
where in the software I'd check the settings you mentioned.

Cheers,

Mark

Hi,

If this is a 5.1 integrated sound card, is it possible that somewhere in the
control software you have the mic socket set as a speaker output socket? I had
this on one of my machines with a Realtek sound chip.

Thanks.
Andrew.

Hi List,

JFW 6, XP SP 2, and onboard sound card. Recently I've not been able to obtain
any input from my mic. However my screen-reader is heard - together with me
typing apparently. I can varify the former from doing tests in Sound Recorder.
I'm sure I've seen a solution to this kind of scenario before, but can't for
the life of me remember what it was!

My Mic volume is set to 90 %, and the 20 DB boost, and mute checkboxes are
checked and unchecked respectively. Any ideas?

Cheers,

Mark
