Thanks Pranav, I did that and now I am backing up my speech files after adding several custom words to my vocabulary. How long does this usually take? My hard drive 7200 rpm and fast processor have been working for more than an hour. This seems extremely long to me for copying speech, jaws, and command files. Does it take this long or am I in some kind of loop and should I abort? You can do this from the folder options applet of the windows control panel. Navigate to the following path C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Nuance\NaturallySpeaking9\Users You should find the extra profiles here. Close Dragon naturally speaking and then delete these extra profiles. Are you using windows xp or vista? I ask since the location of your profile varies based on what operating system your computer is using. I have written on list that I can't delete one of my profiles. 1. after starting dragon, three differently named profiles show up. 2. when I choose a profile, after going in to the menus to delete the old one, it isn't there. The only time I see it is when the program comes up. What would cause this kind of corruption on a new system with very few hours and a great deal of training. I read the training text that is recommended on the training material and two others. The recognition was great. I suppose I will have to get someone to read all of the texts with me because the software does hang on the first text. Any othoughts would be helpful. Either restore from a previously made backup or, create a new profile and start over. If you have used the nywords method, then you should be able to import the words into your vocabulary after creating the new profile. If not, then let me know and I will give you steps to export your custom vocabulary before creating the profile and importing it back into the new profile. As for that 4 lettered word, the mywords method may not work. You will need to work with the vocabulary editor directly. Try the following. 1. Go to the accuracy center and choose the option to edit your vocabulary or say "start vocabulary editor." 2. In the written form box, enter the word as it has to be written. 3. If you say the word as it is written then no need to use the "spoken form" box. If not, then enter the pronounciation of the word in the "spoken form" box. 4. Tab over to the properties button and hit the spacebar to activate or say "confirm that" 5. Check the "alternative written form" box and enter the written form of the word which you have entered previously in the "written form" box. 6. Now, hit ok and or close to back out of everything. 7. You may need to use alt+f4 or the "close program" command to exit the vocabulary editor. Now, try saying the word. It should work. Org Subject: [j-say list] error message I have been in meetings all week and tonight I was working on a report. I kept getting a message that said dragon internal recognizer error you may be able to continue dictating but you need to close to save your settings. I got this three times after exiting dragon and rebooting. Does anyone have any ideas? Also, there is one word that the program refuses to recognize. It is a four letter word used in a novel I am helping to edit. I have typed it in to the correction box and trained it at least 20 times and I put it in my words in notepad. It still won't work correctly. The profile seems to be worse since I have gone back to it after my absence. Noone has used the machine or the program. Any help would be appreciated. I think I am experiencing stability problems since I lost one sound and am now getting error messages and recognition is declining in some situations. Thanks, Judy
