[j-say list] Head Set Problem

I use the
Logitech ClearChat Pro USB Headset It is a USB device.
When I plug it in, I lose any control over setting volume. The computer's
volume button makes no difference. The headset's volume button doesn't alter
the volume.
I plugged this same headset into another computer and these all worked fine.
There must be some weird setting in my computer that is causing this, but I
cannot find it.
This happens whether or not I load Dragon. Also, with other headsets, if I
unplug them, the sound routes back to my external speaker. If I unplug
these, the computer goes silent and I have to re-boot.
One more weird clue. When I plug in these headphones, the audio for jaws
comes through the headphone, but the audio for sound effects from Dragon or
Windows still come out of the computer's external speaker. If I adjust the
computer volume dial, it varies the volume on the external speaker, but
makes no difference on the headphones volume.
Any ideas?
