Who says this is an unnecessary or unrequested feature? You don't speak for everybody, and you shouldn't pretend that you do. The widest range of USB devices includes devices with varying numbers and types of partitions. In the last few days we've read from someone who has an NSLU2. Some of his considerations are that the disc should be readable by another system (Windows). Windows probably only comes into it because it isn't currently possible with RISC OS. I understand the Filecore/FS/ImageFS structure. I understand that it needs an overhaul.
