AUP == Acceptable Use Policy: you agreed to their terms of "acceptable use"
when you accepted the privilege of being billled for their service. Typically,
you can't host services (mail, web, etc.) on home connections. I'm lucky; with
the plethora of ISPs hereabouts, I can choose the one that gives me a wide open
pipe. The downside is that this works both ways. The upside is that I run
(ta-daa) ISA, so the baddies can't get to me.

SLA == Service Level Agreement: this dictates what they agree to provide you in
terms of connectivity and service response times. For most home accounts, this
means 24-48 hour turnaround from complaint to acknowledgement - not even
repair...

The point is, if your AUP states "you may not send mail except through an
account we manage, then by their definition, you're a spammer.

If your AUP allows you to source or sink mail without using the account they
created for your account, then you have an SLA problem.

..it's one or the other.

No Jim I'm not a spammer. To bad it's the real spammers that have ruined the
dynamic connections for guys like me.

Sounds to me like you're a spammer if they've put that much effort into
blocking your outbound mail.

Hi Tom,
I was thinking relaying outbound mail from my sbc yahoo ADSL line at
home to my isa 2004 server on another port like 9000 lets say for an
example, then have the isa redirect the mail to port 25 on one of my
internal exchange servers on port 25 back out to the internet for final
delivery. I have SBS 2000 running at home ISA 2004 here at the office.

Basically SBC global has installed port 25 filters so I can no longer
relay mail through their servers nor can I send mail out through my smtp
port directly. Nor can I relay mail through dyndns.org on any other port
like 2525 or 10025 I did create a connector in exchange and seemed to
work for a short while but it also stopped working. I tried creating a
connector in exchange here at the office today to outbound.mailhop.org
and all worked fine. The only way to send mail on my SBC connection is
straight from an email client like outlook or outlook express then I can
use the dyndns services to send mail on any of their compatible ports. I
don't know SBC is doing but they have me pegged I'm stumped. It's a good
thing for them to do for spam so I may have to live with it.

Can you tell me please would it be smart to create a site to site vpn
from home to office and relay mail that way ??? Thanks Jim
