Yep - you've made it a complex as you possibly could and still be (nearly) functional. Why don't you just use OL2K3 and RPC/HTTP directly through ISA? -----Original Message----- From: Ara [mailto:ara@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Saturday, May 21, 2005 11:11 AM To: [ISAserver.org Discussion List] Subject: [isalist] RE: is it encrypted? http://www.ISAserver.org Hello Jim, I use vpn to connect to ISA. Then use rpc publishing rules for vpn client to access exchange with outlook 2003. Encrypt communication on outlook 2003 is also on and Kerberos/ntlm is used. So it should be fine? Thank you ________________________________ From: Jim Harrison [mailto:Jim@xxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Friday, May 20, 2005 7:42 PM To: [ISAserver.org Discussion List] Subject: [isalist] RE: is it encrypted? http://www.ISAserver.org Remote Desktop is as encrypted as the settings at the server require it to be. Outlook login depends on the protocol and authentication methods you're using. Mail transfer depends on the protocol and authentication (if any) in use. ------------------------------------------------------- Jim Harrison MCP(NT4, W2K), A+, Network+, PCG http://isaserver.org/Jim_Harrison/ <http://isaserver.org/Jim_Harrison/> http://isatools.org <http://isatools.org/> Read the help / books / articles! ------------------------------------------------------- ________________________________ From: Ara [mailto:ara@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Friday, May 20, 2005 18:46 To: [ISAserver.org Discussion List] Subject: [isalist] is it encrypted? http://www.ISAserver.org Hello Sorry if this is dumb. This is off topic but since people here deal with security, might find my answer. Are user name passwords sent to remote desktop encrypted and not exposable to packet snifters? What about the text you type after entering the remote desktop as example a address and password to logging to a database? What about launching outlook and doing a VPN and typing user name and password on outlook to logging to exchange? What about the email itself? My primary concern is how safe is doing these things on a wireless hotspot provided by 3rd parties while I am away (coffee shop as example) Thank you ------------------------------------------------------ List Archives: http://www.webelists.com/cgi/lyris.pl?enter=isalist ISA Server Newsletter: http://www.isaserver.org/pages/newsletter.asp ISA Server FAQ: http://www.isaserver.org/pages/larticle.asp?type=FAQ ------------------------------------------------------ Other Internet Software Marketing Sites: World of Windows Networking: http://www.windowsnetworking.com Leading Network Software Directory: http://www.serverfiles.com No.1 Exchange Server Resource Site: http://www.msexchange.org Windows Security Resource Site: http://www.windowsecurity.com/ Network Security Library: http://www.secinf.net/ Windows 2000/NT Fax Solutions: http://www.ntfaxfaq.com ------------------------------------------------------ You are currently subscribed to this ISAserver.org Discussion List as: jim@xxxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe visit http://www.webelists.com/cgi/lyris.pl?enter=isalist Report abuse to listadmin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ------------------------------------------------------ List Archives: http://www.webelists.com/cgi/lyris.pl?enter=isalist ISA Server Newsletter: http://www.isaserver.org/pages/newsletter.asp ISA Server FAQ: http://www.isaserver.org/pages/larticle.asp?type=FAQ ------------------------------------------------------ Other Internet Software Marketing Sites: World of Windows Networking: http://www.windowsnetworking.com Leading Network Software Directory: http://www.serverfiles.com No.1 Exchange Server Resource Site: http://www.msexchange.org Windows Security Resource Site: http://www.windowsecurity.com/ Network Security Library: http://www.secinf.net/ Windows 2000/NT Fax Solutions: http://www.ntfaxfaq.com ------------------------------------------------------ You are currently subscribed to this ISAserver.org Discussion List as: ara@xxxxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe visit http://www.webelists.com/cgi/lyris.pl?enter=isalist Report abuse to listadmin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ------------------------------------------------------ List Archives: http://www.webelists.com/cgi/lyris.pl?enter=isalist ISA Server Newsletter: http://www.isaserver.org/pages/newsletter.asp ISA Server FAQ: http://www.isaserver.org/pages/larticle.asp?type=FAQ ------------------------------------------------------ Other Internet Software Marketing Sites: World of Windows Networking: http://www.windowsnetworking.com Leading Network Software Directory: http://www.serverfiles.com No.1 Exchange Server Resource Site: http://www.msexchange.org Windows Security Resource Site: http://www.windowsecurity.com/ Network Security Library: http://www.secinf.net/ Windows 2000/NT Fax Solutions: http://www.ntfaxfaq.com ------------------------------------------------------ You are currently subscribed to this ISAserver.org Discussion List as: jim@xxxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe visit http://www.webelists.com/cgi/lyris.pl?enter=isalist Report abuse to listadmin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Attention: This message, including any attachment(s), is intended only for the use of the individual(s) to which it is addressed and may contain information that is privileged or confidential.
