Actually, I knew that going in (did my research b4 buying) so I'm cool with
that. But with the way I'm configuring the unit, and since I've got FQDN's
for each different WAN port, putting it in fail-over mode will be as simple
as going to the internal interface and just swapping from LB to FO. In LB
mode, it will actually "automatically" "fail-over" in regard to outbound--
it just won't re-map inbound automatically. In that case, like I said, I
just go and swap modes and I'm done.
This guy also has a gigabit port for internal, which I'm all GB internally
now, it runs silently (which i really like) and it even has support to
automatically quarantine outbound clients if the Trend Micro pattern file is
not at the right level. The point-to-point VPN support is much better, and
it even came with 5 ProSafe client vpn licenses too...
Given all that, I don't mind the fail-over options.

FedEx just delivered my Netgear FVX538! We'll be havin' some fun tonight!!! One difference between this guy and Steve's Xincom, though-- the Netgear has a "load balance" *or*"redundant fail-over" config, where the 502/3 states it does *both* at the same time. But that's fine with me... The single, flat back-end network is really what I'm after.
I know you are all on the edge of your seats waiting for the outcome of the new config, so I'll be sure to update you once I get going ;)
