Thanks Jim, I'm having a difficult time to explain to a developer (CTO) what are the advantages of each. I keep on hitting a wall where the developer is convinced on something else what SecureNAT and Web Client does. Thanks for clearing things for me. "asks" the ISA to make the connection it its place (the literal definition of "proxy") 2. depends on ISA for external name resolution 3. only works for HTTP, FTP, HTTPS (FTP does not support "PUT") 4. uses the web cache by default 5. can authenticate to the web proxy service SecureNAT: 1. uses ISA as its "router" for all protocols 2. does not use ISA for name resolution 3. limited to protocols defined _and_ allowed in ISA can have trouble with protocols that require secondary connections 4. can access the web cache _if_ the HTTP redirector is set to route FW and secureNAT HTTP requests 5. does not authenticate to ISA at all Bear in mind that if the FW client software is installed on the client, it's no longer a secureNAT client. Likewise, setting the browser to use the web proxy on a secureNAT client makes it a web proxy client.
