I use VPN to establish the connection to the ISA server, then use RDP to
work from there.  The two go hand-in-hand pretty good.  

The kicker in your situation is going to be the IM portion.  You can use
the built-in chat function in Windows to do LAN (or via VPN) chat (IM),
but you don't get video.  If you use one of the more popular IM
programs, they all require you to contact a central Internet server to
coordinate the connections and then you open a much larger can of worms.

Hi Steve,

Why not use VPN? You know that the ISA firewall allows you to lock down
VPN users in the same way as any other type of user.
