I've got a bunch of little critters here too...

We have Java classes where we receive about 24 proggramers/day. He had
all kinds of issues, like guys bringing pen-drives and taking away the
course PDF's or instructor slides, or sending them through all kinds of
e-mail providers out there.

I just did two things:

1 - created an access rule so they can do whatever they want on
www.sun.com
2 - created an access rule so they can browse the web wherever they
want, but I've cut down everything that could bring problems (e.g.: They
can't do HTTP POST method, they can't download executables, activeX
plugins, etc...). They can just do the basics ;) They don't need to do
anything else, anyway.

Hi Dan,

I'd think Web mail sites would be an even greater security issue for a
law firm, as they could transfer confidentail and undiscoverable
information over that channel, in contrast to if they go through your
internal mail system. pR0n is an issue too, but I'd think less than
moving files over verboten Web mail sites.

Thanks!

Oh, they get the standard SurfControl Not Allowed page. I just have
secretaries and attorneys..no programmers or anyone that would even try
to hack anything....they do know I get an email when they try something
telling me they tried. No..I won't get after them for trying an email
site..I would if it was porn all the time or dating sites.
Which having the software to do reporting has gotten some maintenance
people fired here, they would see a computer on in one of the attorneys
offices and go and surf Spanish porn sites......
