NLB requires Advanced Server, the best practice is to have NLB run with Multiple Network interfaces, one for the NLB address and the other answering the unique static IP address for the server itself. The NLB address shared across X number of servers will answer requests and primary IP address is used to respond, I have played aroound with NLB and found that it works just fine if configured using at least 2 interface cards rather than assign additional IP address to a single NIC.
