That's what I thought. What got me was how they listed this:
Important
We do not recommend that you use Message Screener together with Exchange
Server 2003, because Message Screener will interfere with the functioning
of the Exchange Server Connection and Recipient Filtering feature.
The SMTP filter can be used with Exchange Server 2003
