I tried this, unfortunately my ISP only issue 4 hour licences and the task scheduler will only recur daily, besides restarting the ISA Services every 4 hours seems too frequent to me! I originally installed from the MSDN Backoffice CDs, which gives ISA Standard edition. Like I said previously the service pack wouldn't install, so I installed MSDN ISA Enterprise over the top and now the SP installs and the DHCP problem seems to have gone away! I hope it stays this way! It basically stops ISA's components, drops old IP then grabs new one from ISP. I too had to do this. Originally the script didn't do a release of the old IP, but I found that if I didn't release the IP it would not extend the lease. It would then expire and leave me with a problem. So if you would like this script please e-mail me directly, and I will send it as an attachment. It's a VBS extension, so if you have a filter enabled I will have to zip it. Regards. Mark PS. I believe Jim gets the credit for writing the script !!! ----- Original Message ----- From: Joel Mansford <mailto:Joel.Mansford@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: [ISAserver.org <mailto:isalist@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Discussion List] Sent: Monday, March 04, 2002 12:59 PM Subject: [isalist] ISA Server is a DHCP Client, can't renew its lease http://www.ISAserver.org I am running dual-homed ISA Server (standard) which one NIC on a fixed private IP, and the second NIC set to DHCP attached to a cable modem. My ISP issue 4 hour leases. My problem is this, during bootup the machine requests and accepts a DHCP offer without problem, however once the machine has fully booted it is unable to renew the lease. Thus, the server needs booting every 4 hours. I have looked at the traffic on the Public NIC using network monitor, and can see the DHCP Offer packets, I believe ISA Server is stopping them coming through. The DHCP Client packet filter is ENABLED. I have tried applying ISA SP1, but that errors with "ISA Server not installed" ! Any suggestions which don't involve rebuilding, greatly appreciated. Cheers, Joel. P.S. Due to a funny during installation, the system drive is on F:. ------------------------------------------------------ You are currently subscribed to this ISAserver.org Discussion List as: strangconst@xxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe send a blank email to $subst('Email.Unsub') This e-mail has been scanned for all known viruses by Star Internet on behalf of The Instrumental Media Group.
