Firewall Client and XP Problem

Anyone ever have an issue where the firewall client once installed causes major
issues in XP?
The processor was pegged - tried a restart and it would not come all the way
back up. SVCHost was utilizing most of the proc. Had to kill that process,
explorer, etc and could not get it going again until we uninstalled the
firewall client.
I have never seen this before...
