I do have connectivity to my ISA server box...to be known as "Z-server" from here on. Since creating a wpad alias on the dns server, my win 2k client is working with the firewall now. On the win98 Machine, I can browse the local workgroup, open up network shares, and query the dns server for both internal and external names. DHCP will serve up IP address fine... It's a standalone, no domain or AD... Ofcourse I have the DG as the ISA server... As it stands now.. with the FW client not connected, and the IE proxy set to use z-server:8080 there is no internet connectivity, if I dump the proxy settings the 404 error comes much faster. this is all with a blank DG, and no wins servers anywhere. If I enter a DG to point at the z-server internet connectivity comes back with out the proxy server being used. the Isa server still not detectable on the client.. I can't think of anything else to add. thanks, Mark ----- Original Message ----- From: "Anthony Michaud" <anthonym@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: "[ISAserver.org Discussion List]" <isalist@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, October 24, 2001 10:08 PM Subject: [isalist] Re: FW client task tray icon http://www.ISAserver.org Art has given the suggestion that I'd be doing - go and check that you've got full connectivity to the ISA, and make sure that all DNS entries etc are working - making sure that you're using the NAT IP address for the ISA, not the real world (if you've got that sort of configuration). If its not this level, please provide greater detail so that we can establish a 'picture' of your configuration, so that we can attempt to find the fault. IE: let us know that you've checked, and all machines have TCP/IP, if you're running netbui, all machines that require it have it, let us know if there is anything that *might* make a difference - eg: can you build a vanilla machine with *just* the firewall client installed. Are the machines members of a domain? etc -- Anthony Michaud Network Administrator Act! Certified Consultant eLogix Corporation Pty Ltd In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice.
