The fact that ISA depended on an upstream filtering mechanism was kinda
important, doncha think?
I'd like to get with you and Joel offline, as we have a good cooperative
relationship with Web Sense (and GFI & Surf Control).
It bothers me quite a bit to hear "Neither Microsoft nor websense were ever
able to come up with a solution (or even really acknowledge that there was a
problem)".

My situation matches exactly this scenario.
I had disabled websense and still seen the error on ISA, so assumed it was not
websense related.
(and their website revealed no answers)
Has anyone else seen this?

Are you behind websense?
If so I and several others never got it to work correctly. Neither Microsoft
nor websense were ever able to come up with a solution (or even really
acknowledge that there was a problem), but it happened to 100% of the schools
in our region that were behind websense. We finally fixed the problem by moving
to 8e6 for filtering. Now ISA 2004 works like a charm.
