Had the same problem once. 
as it turns out .. AOL is very stick about being able to reverse resolve
the senders address to an  IP. in my case the mail was set to be sent as
user@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
changing it to
user@xxxxxxxxxx
allowed AOL to successfully reverse resolve that and it started to flow.

I'm using ISA 2000 and Exchange 2000.  Clients can send mail to anyone
but
AOL email names i.e. anyone@xxxxxxxx  Please help
