Actually, JCSS is an interpretation, not an historical treatise. So I
don't have a problem with misplaced idioms. Its euphonic, and evokes the
right emotional response in the psyche of those who are currently, or
have been at some time, subjects of the Crown.

Also, keep in mind it's a play, so it has to be conversational in
nature. So, while it sounds like the characters are a bit too voluble in
song, it's not that way when you think of conversation/soliloquy "put to
music".

I ain't no polymath, polygot nor polly anna, but have sometimes been
labelled as polymorphous perverse.
