Please find attached and below information on the International Workshop on the
HET-CAM assay that will take place on October 29-30 at the BfR, Berlin, Germany.
International Workshop on the HET-CAM assay
The BfR is organizing together with Services & Consultation on Alternative
Methods (SeCAM) an international workshop on the HET-CAM assay on the 29th and
30th of October 2012 in Berlin, co-sponsored by the BfR and the European
Partnership for Alternative Approaches to Animal Testing (EPAA).
The aim of this workshop is to make recommendations on the most relevant
HET-CAM protocol(s) and prediction model(s) for the different purposes and uses
of this test method. In particular, the use of the HETCAM
test for:
a) the bottom-up approach for the identification of chemicals not requiring
classification for eye irritation
b) the top-down approach for the identification of chemicals inducing serious
eye damage
c) screening, testing and / or safety assessment
will be discussed and recommendations developed that should facilitate its
process of regulatory acceptance.
The workshop is open to the public upon registration, however please note that
the total number of participants is limited to 40.
