I got an Inspiron 640m a quarter ago. I believe it is the same as 1405 
which is 1.66Ghz Duo - one step lower than what you have perhaps.

I installed SUSE 10.2 on it. Works fine. Need to get the wireless alone 
working by explicit install and not out-of-the-box.
