For the GUI-crazy, we had FVWM and Mosaic. For the others, lynx ruled.
Pine was the universal email reader ("pine me before you leave").
It is amazing that I had used gnuplot/octave/latex etc. in the early
nineties and am still comfortable with them (even though I hadn't
touched these for several years in between).
