A four-year old opinion piece. The author talks about RFC 822, but it
has been superceded by RFC 2822. The URL posted by Kenneth refuted
this one so nicely that I wouldn't bother :)
I just have this suggestion - why doesn't ilugc enable Reply-To to
itself for a month or so and ask the list members themselves to choose
between the two options?
The one big argument I have in favour of Reply-to is that several
times I notice that when I post something on the list, I get replies
that come to me directly. They are usually a follow-up question or
additional information, and I'm sure once two-three such emails are
exchanged, the poster's problem is solved. But this whole exchange
happens off the list, is not archived, and thus valuable infomation is
lost forever.
