Hi all,
I have a debian OS (x86) on an IDE-HDD with / partition mapped on /dev/hda2
and with boot flag set.
Now i am shifting this disk to a new system with better hardware
(memory,core2duo) and BIOS too which has support for SATA and IDE disks.
Right it doesnt have any SATA drive fixed this disk with debian OS. Now it
doesnt recognize the boot parition on the IDE-HDD i suppose, and is stuck
with error:
"No bootable device, insert boot disk and press any key"
But when I boot off the GnuParted Live rescue CD, it gives me an option at
grub menu to boot from the MBR it found after scanning. if i choose that
option, it OS boots fine.
can someone tell me whats going on and what could be the fix ?
