why do our linux GUI development resembles windows like development in terms
of GUI???
It depends on the API that use. If you code directly to XLib or Xt or Xm,
there is utterly no similarity between the MS Windows API and the X API.
OTOH, if you use a cross-platform API like Qt or Mono, then obviously there
will be similarities.
In other words, Linux GUI development is *not* similar to Windows GUI
programming. Joel of joelonsoftware.com has a lot to say about this.
