Hey LUGies,
Today I totally got rid of the last traces of 'Jannal' :D by installing
Ubuntu 5.10 over my windows partition. The installation went fine and
after logging in, I tried to start my braodband(BSNL). It was all fine,
after initial failures as i had forgot the password. After finally making
it up, i tried Gaim and Firefox. Gaim connected, but after a few minutes
it goes blank. I have to logoff and login back to connectit again, which
goes off after a few minutes. With firefox, the web pages doesnot openup
or refresh at the first attempt. For isntance, if i type google.com and
click enter... the page doesnot open. It remains at "connecting
google.com" I have to keep pressing enter two or three times to make it
open google. The same happens after tht, with everytime i want to open a
different page, i have to try atleasr a couple of times.
I doubted the connection and checked it in my FC4. Everything is pretty
usual here :) Also, apt-get is not able to find any apps, like emacs and
xmmms. When i try "apt-get install" with them, it says it dint find the
app with the name.
Isnt there a command like in YUM, to check theapt-cache search packagename
application we are trying to install "Yum search xmmms" used to show the
apps available with the name xmmms in them. Do we hacve to add
repositories as in YUM, in apt-get also ??
