you can have more than 1 smtp account, but by default you can use only 1
smtp for all accounts,
there is no mapping of account and its corresponding smtp... you need to
manually change the smtp if u want to reply with that account.
I think you have not explored the features properly.
I have 3 different email account with its own IMAP/SMTP for each
account and happily using Thunderbird, to select the proper SMTP based
on the from email address. I never switch the SMTP manually.
Once you associate which SMTP to use for a given accout, it will
remember it. Say sometimes, when I receive email on mksarav AT comp
account but prefer to reply using my gmail id, and hence I select the
From address as "gmail", then it automatically uses the gmail SMTP for
outgoing.
