The question is _not_ top vs bottom posting. The problem is quoting
only specific portions of the mail that you are responding to.
If you are asking someone for help, it is nice/natural to make some
effort to write your questions in a structure/language that they can
understand.
Since it is understood that some people are new to the culture, a
little bit of hand-holding or "pointing out the zebra crossings" will
be done.
If this help is ignored, the annoyed readers will take recourse to
.procmailrc or mutt scoring files or simply the 'd' key and the
questioner will be left wondering why their questions get no answers.
